Back to Xtreme school

Published:  27 August, 2015

For the first time Williams Fire & Hazard Control is to host its Xtreme Industrial Fire & Hazard Training School in Europe.

Traditionally held as an annual week-long event in Beaumont, Texas, the training course will also take place in Vernon near Paris, France, from September 27 to October 1 2015. This will provide customers in the EMEA region with the opportunity to benefit from the expertise and knowledge gained throughout Williams’ 34 years of successful firefighting in the oil & gas industry.

Tyco’s Williams Xtreme Industrial Fire & Hazard Training School will provide knowledge and skills to ensure a safe and effective response to fire emergencies. This will be achieved through a combination of classroom lectures and field exercises covering innovative methodologies, tactics and fire protection equipment for applications in the petrochemical and oil and gas industries. Sessions will focus on diverse incident profiles and fire dynamics, foam and dry chemical application, response logistics and field operations, case studies and large volume equipment applications.

Accredited by the Joint Oil Industry Fire Forum (JOIFF), the workshop will be both educational-and-skills-based to ensure that key subjects are not only understood but can also demonstrated by each student. Attendees will participate in live fire skills exercises held in a 200m2 fire area which consists of pressure fed fires, hydrocarbon pressure fuel fires, fuels-in-depth, as well as a boil over demonstration. This will enable teams to learn and use different firefighting techniques, such as foam applications, dry chemicals and attack lines.

‘We are looking forward to introducing our famous Williams Industrial Fire & Hazard Training School in Europe. It provides a great opportunity to engage with our customers in EMEA and for them to learn more about fire response tactics and equipment through real-life scenarios. Our workshop is extremely well received in the USA, and we hope to achieve the same success in Europe,’ said Thierry Moinet, Sales Director, Foam & Foam Hardware EMEA, Tyco Fire Protection Products.

Upon completing the course, participants will be awarded both a JOIFF certificate of competence and a Williams Fire & Hazard Control certificate of achievement.
