PPV manufacturer offers free interactive courses

Published:  06 January, 2015

The downloadable courses have been put together by Leader and EducExpert and are designed to assist in positive pressure ventilation training.

The interactive modules are simple to use and employ animation to enhance learning. They are also available in English, Spanish, French and Chinese.

The modules are the result of a partnership between Leader, a manufacturer of fire fighting and search and rescue equipment, and EducExpert, an organisation focussed on international long-distance learning for industry, and especially the fire safety sector.

Three major topics are addressed by the new ventilation course are:

  • The main principles of fire and the different phases of development.
  • Explanation of the thermal phenomena and their consequences.
  • The basics of fire ventilation during fire fighting according to three principle techniques (offensive, defensive and combined ventilation).

Each module includes a self-assessment composed of questionnaires and practical exercises for rapid validation of acquired knowledge.

The course demonstrates how integrating PPV (positive pressure ventilation) at the right time into the normal stages of the fire fighting operation enables the effective removal of smoke during or after the fire. It also shows how the use of PPV increases safety and the effectiveness of firefighting by reducing heat and, by greatly increasing the visibility, it allows the quick extinction of a fire and decreases or stops its spread.

The modules are available free of charge following registration. To download the course, visit the training section at: http://www.leader-group.eu/leader-training/interactive-courses-334.html
